The Moonbeam Method

Week 1 · Lesson 1.3 · 24 min

FIND → ADD → CONNECT

Learn the three-step method as a way of moving through the internet, not as a slogan to put on a graphic.

Find your people. Add them to your world. Connect with them. Everything else is extras.

This is the spine of the whole training. If you remember nothing else, remember the order.

FIND.

ADD.

CONNECT.

Not "content, funnel, follow-up sequence". Not "attract, convert, ascend". Not "post, story, link". Those can be tools. They're not a way to be a human.

FIND

FIND isn't "identify your ideal customer on a worksheet and ignore everyone else". I've seen those worksheets. They produce a fictional woman named Sarah who drinks lemon water and has £200 spare and a Pinterest aesthetic, and then the Moonbeam feels guilty every time they talk to an actual human who isn't Sarah.

FIND is more alive than that.

Find the people you naturally connect with. The ones who laugh at the same things, who are in the same season, who ask the questions you also ask, who care about the things you actually care about. Find the rooms they're already in — the pages, the groups, the comment sections, the creators, the late-night hashtags, the quiet Facebook communities that still somehow hold a whole village.

Find your own voice while you're doing it. You can't find your people while wearing a costume, because the people who arrive will have come for the costume.

Find what makes you different, which usually isn't a niche statement. It's your particular mix of humour, pace, wounds, loves, and the way you tell a story when you stop performing.

Week 2 is built for this. This week, I only need you to understand that "my audience is anyone spiritual" isn't FIND. It's standing in a shopping centre shouting "crystals?" at the food court.

Forced versus human

FIND

Forced

"My target market is women 25–45, into spirituality, disposable income, follow at least three wellness accounts, likely to buy a crystal set this quarter."

Human

"I always end up talking to tired parents who still want a bit of magic, and people who are suspicious of fluff but curious anyway. They hang out in the comments under accounts that tell the truth about burnout. That's who I want in my world."

Why it feels different

The first is a brief for an advert. The second is someone you can actually go and look for.

ADD

ADD is where a lot of affiliate training loses its soul.

ADD, in this method, means: follow people. Join communities. Comment. Reply to stories. Participate. Become a person in a room that already exists.

It doesn't mean: add everyone with a pulse and a feminine-coded avatar. It doesn't mean: follow-unfollow gymnastics. It doesn't mean: "prospecting" dressed up as friendliness.

Let's be honest. If the only reason you tapped Follow is "they might buy something", you're not adding a person to your world. You're putting a lead in a bucket. They can feel the difference, even if they couldn't name it. You can feel it too. That slight tightness in the chest after a mass-add session isn't "resistance to success". It's your ethics trying to get a word in.

We'll practise adding with curiosity in Week 3. You'll have numbers, because some people like numbers. They'll be small on purpose.

CONNECT

CONNECT is the part everyone skips because it doesn't screenshot well.

Talk. Listen. Ask questions. Share. Respond. Show interest. Tell stories. Let people get to know you. Build something that would still matter if the product line vanished tomorrow.

Don't force conversations. Don't immediately pitch. Don't pretend to care about someone's dog because you want them to buy a journal. Care about the dog or leave the dog alone.

Connection isn't a trick you do to someone. It's what happens when two people actually clock each other — even in a comment that could only have come from you.

Week 4 is the deep work of this. If you're already good at chatting and terrified of selling, CONNECT will feel like home until the product enters, and then we'll stay with you. If you're already good at pitching and rusty at being a person, CONNECT will feel slow. Stay anyway. Trust gets built slowly, and that's not a flaw in the method.

Do this

Order the last seven days

  1. 1Look at your last week on social media. Divide every action into FIND, ADD, CONNECT, or CATALOGUE.
  2. 2Be honest about the comments you left. Was that connect, or was that "engagement for the algorithm"?
  3. 3Circle one FIND you could do tomorrow (a room to visit). One ADD (a human to follow from curiosity). One CONNECT (a conversation to continue).
  4. 4Put the catalogue actions to one side. You're not throwing products away. You're refusing to let them eat the other three.

If everything you did last week was CATALOGUE, you're not behind. You're exactly why this week exists.

The sentence under the method

FIND your people.

ADD them to your world.

CONNECT with them.

SHOW them who you are.

BUILD trust.

LET PRODUCTS BECOME PART OF YOUR STORY.

And above everything: people first, products second.

If you get lost in a later week, come back here. If a tactic someone taught you in 2019 starts shouting, ask it which of the three steps it serves. If it serves none, it's probably just hunting dressed up as advice.

If this is you

This sounds like it'll take forever.

Relationships do take time. So does posting into a void for eighteen months. One of those builds trust. The other just wears you out. You don't need a year before you mention a product. You need a real thread with a real person, which can start this afternoon. FIND and ADD can happen today. CONNECT can happen tonight. A product can belong by Thursday if the conversation goes there. The method is an order, not a prison sentence.

The same method, three people

Priya

dry, family mornings, allergic to fluff

FIND, for me, is other parents who'll tell the truth about the morning. I'm not hunting priestesses. ADD is commenting on the messy kitchen posts, not the perfect altars. CONNECT is sending a voice note that says "same, and also I put the amethyst in the cupholder like a lunatic." The kit goes in the story when someone asks what the purple thing is, not before.

Jonah

quiet, nights, journals

I find people in the comments under accounts that talk about not sleeping. I don't add fifty. I add the one person whose caption sounded like my 4am. CONNECT, for me, is a written conversation that lasts a week. I'll never be Bee. I can still be a Moonbeam.

Bee

chaotic, camera-first, sweary

I find my people by being too much in public and seeing who stays. ADD is me following the ones who make me snort. CONNECT is me going live in a stained jumper and asking what everyone is actually scared of this week. The product comes in as "this is what I had in my hand while I cried in the car" — which isn't a strategy, it's just Tuesday.
