The Moonbeam Method

Week 5 · Lesson 5.6 · 22 min

The Moonbeam Promise

Understand why a Social Media Promise matters, how to keep living FIND → ADD → CONNECT after the five weeks, and how to measure the right things as you prepare to sign — without treating the promise as a caption.

A promise is what you hold onto on the day your fear tries to run the account again.

I'm not going to print the full Moonbeam Social Media Promise here. It lives in its own place, on purpose, so it cannot be skimmed as lesson-filler. You will read it there. You will say it out loud if you can. It should feel slightly inconvenient. If it feels like a vibe, you have not understood it.

This lesson is the why, the how of staying, and the inner voice I want you to notice before you sign.

Why a promise matters

Motivation comes and goes. In Week 1 you were raw and willing. In Week 6 you will be tired, or skint, or jealous, or bored, and a row of product graphics will look like control. A promise is not a spell against that. It is a decision made on a day you can still see clearly, for the days you cannot.

You've already met the version of you who panics. She cold-DMs. She circles back. She lets AI talk. She copies the cliff woman. She goes quiet when someone asks the price. She measures likes and calls it failure. The promise is how you don't let her drive, without pretending she doesn't live in the house.

Promises also protect the people in your phone. They never asked to be in your pipeline. FIND → ADD → CONNECT is how they get treated as humans. Writing it down makes it harder to talk yourself out of it later.

How to live FIND → ADD → CONNECT after five weeks

This was never a content calendar. It is a way of being online.

FIND: keep locating your people by energy, humour, season, rooms they already talk in. Keep locating yourself — the personality that is not a costume. When the feed goes dead, don't post more sludge. Go where your people are and listen.

ADD: keep becoming a person in those rooms. Follow from curiosity. Comment like you read it. Join without announcing your affiliate number like a town crier. Boundaries from Week 3 don't expire.

CONNECT: talk. Listen. Continue. Read interest and disinterest. Let products in when they would be useful at commission zero. Honour no. Stay available without chase.

STAY: do it on ordinary Tuesdays. Let them see you. Products inside the story. AI as a helper, not as you. Comparison in a box. The promise when your fear wants a shortcut.

A weekly rhythm that is enough, not a new religion:

  1. 1One ordinary moment noticed, even if you don't post it.
  2. 2Three human comments or story replies that could not be copy-pasted.
  3. 3Conversations continued, not only started.
  4. 4At most a few product mentions, all of them with a life attached or a question answered.
  5. 5One check: did I sound like me, or like a tool, or like her?

If that feels small, good. Small is how this lasts. Hero weeks are how you burn out and come back as a catalogue.

Forced versus human

Week 6 panic versus Week 6 practice

Forced

The training is over so I must post daily, go live, stack links, message everyone who watched my story, and make back the time I spent learning. I will do it "authentically".

Human

The training is over so I do the boring loop: find, add, connect, stay. I post when I have a Tuesday. I sell when it belongs. I measure conversations and courage. I reread the promise when I want to hunt.

Why it feels different

"Authentically" as an adverb on a panic plan is how we got here. Practice is duller and kinder and it still sells.

Measure the right things

You'll be tempted by dashboards. Use them as information, not as the boss. Keep the human scoreboard:

  • Confidence: which rung did I stand on, even badly?
  • Conversations: started, continued, closed well.
  • Genuine connections: names you could write without opening analytics.
  • Storytelling: did I tell one true hour?
  • Personality: would a friend recognise the sentence?
  • Community: was I in a room, or shouting at a shop window?
  • Creating without AI: could I have written this on a bus?
  • Products naturally: did the object enter as furniture or as a hostage situation?

Sales: yes, count them. Count refunds and bad-feeling yeses too. A clean no plus a later honest yes is better business than a forced kit in someone's guilt.

Inner voice, Week 1 versus Week 5

Week-1 voice

scared, script-shaped, hungry for a rule

If I do not post a product I will earn nothing. People I know will laugh. I have nothing to say. I should sound more like Maggie. If they do not reply I am embarrassing. AI can do this because I cannot. I will start when I like my face. I need a funnel. I need to add thirty people before breakfast. I am probably too much, or not enough, and I cannot tell which.

Week-5 voice

still human, less possessed

I might earn slowly and I would rather earn as a person. People I know may watch; they are not the customer. My Tuesday is material. I can learn from Maggie without becoming her. Silence is information, not a curse. AI can sort my thoughts; it cannot have my pans. Face is optional; a sentence is not. I can recommend a kit without eating the friendship. I do not hunt. I stay.

The week-5 voice is not enlightened. She still gets jealous. She still wants a shortcut on a month when the boiler dies. She just has a fence, and a method, and four Moonbeams in her head who prove there is more than one mouth.

Prepare to sign

Before you open the promise text, do this short, unsexy preparation:

  • Look at your last nine posts. How many could only have been you? How many are shop?
  • Look at your last five DMs. Forced or human?
  • Name one conversation you are proud of that earned nothing.
  • Name one product you actually use, and one you have been pushing because you thought you should.
  • Name the panic behaviour you already know is yours: chase, freeze, clone, AI-mouth, catalogue week, hiding.

You bring that honesty to the page. You don't bring a performance of doing it properly.

Do this

Write the fence in your own words first

  1. 1In five lines, write how you will FIND → ADD → CONNECT, STAY, and sell without becoming a till. No slogans.
  2. 2Write the panic behaviour you are most likely to relapse into, and the first small counter-move.
  3. 3Write how you will measure the next 30 days, using the human list, with one number that is allowed to be small.
  4. 4Then go and read the actual promise. Notice where your five lines are weaker. Don't replace your life with the document. Let the document hold you to the life.

If your five lines mention "being authentic" and nothing else, start again. Authenticity is the outcome of these behaviours, not a strategy. Put in comments, listening, product-when-ready, no-chase, ordinary hours.

If this is you

I have been doing this for years and I am afraid the promise makes me small

It makes you specific. Veterans go wide and thin. The promise returns you to rooms, sentences, and consent. If your income was built on volume hunting, it may dip while you rebuild, as Nia's did. That dip is not proof the method is naive. It is proof the old method was expensive in ways you did not put on a spreadsheet. Stay for the conversations. Let the kit be furniture. You are not finished. You are finally in a practice that will not require you to abandon yourself every quarter.

Forced versus human

Signing as theatre versus signing as a decision

Forced

I will screenshot the promise in a pretty font, post it, use the words "I am so aligned", and then run a 24-hour story sale because I am scared.

Human

I will read it out loud in the kitchen, date it, tell one person who will notice if I hunt, and go and leave three comments that could only be mine. The shop can wait until someone asks, or until the kit is actually on my table.

Why it feels different

Theatre is just another kind of content. A decision changes the next ordinary hour. The promise only works if it can interrupt you mid-DM.

Five weeks is not a personality transplant. It is a set of muscles: looking, speaking, listening, selling without predation, staying when it is boring. You will lose the muscle if you don't use it. You will not lose it if you keep talking to humans like a human.

Go and read the promise. Sign it if it is true. If it is not yet true, practise until it is, then sign. I am not interested in your performance of commitment. I am interested in the next conversation you start that would still be worth having if nobody ever bought a thing — and in the honest share you will make when somebody does.

People first. Products second. FIND → ADD → CONNECT. Stay.

Do the work
