The Moonbeam Method

Week 2 · Lesson 2.2 · 24 min

Your Personality Belongs to You

Stop cloning Maggie or any other Moonbeam, and map the humour, pace, topics and edges that are actually yours.

If your feed could be swapped with mine and nobody would notice, you've gone missing.

I need to say this without being precious about it. I'm Maggie. I founded MoonMagicx. I have a way of talking. It's British, a bit sharp, a bit tender, and it comes from a life that isn't a marketing avatar. People join this training and, with the best will in the world, start doing an impression of me. Softer, sometimes. More moon. Same bones.

It doesn't work. Not because I'm special. Because an impression is always slightly late, slightly polished, and slightly dead. Your people didn't come to meet a tribute act.

The method is FIND → ADD → CONNECT. None of those words mean "become Maggie". MoonMagicx provides the products. You provide the personality. If you outsource the personality to me, we have a shop with no one behind the counter.

Personality is not a vibe. It's a set of edges.

When I say personality, I don't mean your star sign and whether you like sage. I mean the bits that would still be true if Instagram vanished.

Humour: dry, chaotic, slapstick, none, dark, mum-humour, workplace humour, the kind that only works in writing.

Pace: fast talker, slow writer, posts in bursts, posts like a letter, stories every day, stories never, long captions, one line and out.

Topics: what you could talk about for twenty minutes without a product in the room. Sleep. Grief. Parenting. Shift work. Money. Football. Houseplants. Anger. Learning to trust yourself after a relationship that made you small.

Edges: what you won't pretend. Maybe you won't pretend you meditate. Maybe you won't pretend you love every card in the deck. Maybe you won't do fake intimacy with strangers. Maybe you won't make your children into content. Edges aren't a branding exercise. They're how you stay able to live with yourself.

Communication style: voice notes. Text. Camera. Never camera. Emoji as punctuation or emoji as a cry for help. Formal. Sweary. Soft. Blunt.

Individuality is the combination. Not one of those things turned up to eleven.

How to find yours without a quiz

Sit with your last ten messages to a friend. Not your last ten posts. Your messages. That's closer to your actual mouth.

Notice: do you tease. Do you soothe. Do you send a paragraph or a single dry line. Do you voice-note while walking. Do you only write when something has gone wrong. All of that is usable.

Then notice what you never post, even though you talk about it constantly. That gap is often the personality you left in the other room because you thought it was unprofessional for a Moonbeam. Bring one piece of it back.

Forced versus human

Maggie-shaped caption versus Priya

Forced

The cards asked me to slow down today and honestly I think that's a message we all need. If you've been rushing your magic, this is your sign to return to yourself. Our new moon workbook is linked — I just know it's going to shift something for you.

Human

If one more person tells me to slow down I will time them with the kettle. I pulled a card on the bonnet of the car because that was the only altar I had. Queen of Swords, which felt about right. I don't need a forest. I need two minutes and a crystal I won't lose under a car seat.

Why it feels different

The first could be me on a tired day, which is exactly the problem. The second can't be me. It's got a bonnet, a clock, and a woman who isn't going to be spiritually lectured by her own caption. That's Priya. You can hear the kitchen, the scepticism, the love. You can't swap the name.

Three Moonbeams, one ordinary Tuesday

I want you to hear how wide this work can be. Same question: what did Tuesday look like. No product required. No lesson required. Just a person, awake in a life.

Three Moonbeams, one Tuesday

Priya

dry humour, family mornings, sceptical of fluff

Tuesday was a sock on the stairs and a child asking if crystals work on lost shoes. I said they work better if we also look under the sofa, which wasn't the mystical answer, and I don't care. I put the little quartz in the bowl of keys anyway because she likes the weight of it, not because I'm building a content series called Pocket Magic. I didn't film the morning. I did write one line on my stories while the engine was still on, about how spiritual people never mention the bit where you're late and the dog has eaten a sock. Two people replied. That's plenty. If anyone wants a tarot deck they can ask me like a human. I'm not announcing myself at the supermarket.

Jonah

quiet night-shift nurse, writes more than he speaks

I got in at 8am and the flat was the kind of quiet that feels earned. I made tea and sat with the journal, not because I'm disciplined, because my head was still on the ward. I wrote half a page about a patient who thanked me for explaining something twice without making him feel stupid. Then I slept. In the evening I posted the paragraph, no face, no reel, just the words and a photo of the mug. Someone I barely know replied that they'd had a similar night in a different job. I liked their comment and left it. I don't need to turn every kindness into a funnel. The deck is on the shelf. It'll still be there on Thursday.

Bee

chaotic, funny, messy-kitchen camera, spiritual and sweary

Right. Tuesday. I spilt oat milk, shouted at the oat milk, pulled the Tower, laughed, and talked to my stories like they were a mate on the counter. I said something like I'm deeply connected to source and also I can't find the kitchen scissors. Then I held up the moon workbook with jam on my thumb and said this page is the only reason I remembered I have a body. I'm not polished. I'm not going to be. If you want a woman in white linen whispering about abundance, there are hundreds. If you want someone who'll tell you the truth about a bad day and still light a candle, I'm in. Also the cat walked through the shot and I left it in, because the cat pays rent in vibes and fur.

None of those people is doing it wrong. None of them is me. If you try to split the difference and become a bit of all four of us, you'll sound like a committee.

Forced versus human

The blend versus the edge

Forced

Just a little reminder to honour your unique magic today. Whether you're a busy mum, a night owl or a kitchen witch, this space is for you. What kind of energy are you bringing? Tell me below, I love hearing from this community.

Human

I'm not going to pretend I'm a kitchen witch, a night owl and a busy mum. I'm Jonah. I write at weird hours and I won't do a dance on Reels. If that's too quiet for you, there are louder rooms, and I mean that kindly.

Why it feels different

The blend is afraid of losing someone. The edge is how the right someone stops scrolling. Kindness doesn't require you to be a waiting room for every personality on earth.

Pace is a personality trait, not a productivity problem

Some of you are beating yourselves up for not being Bee. Bee can talk to a camera while the kettle screams. You might be Jonah. You might be Elise, who looks polished because she spent years inside MLM scripts and is now terrified that any fluency means she is selling. You might be someone who posts once a week on purpose.

Pace includes how fast you reply, how often you appear, how long you take to trust a room. If you force a pace that isn't yours, you'll sound like you're jogging in someone else's trainers. People can hear the blister.

Topics work the same way. You don't have to cover the whole spiritual waterfront. You can be the Moonbeam who talks about sleep and cards. The one who talks about money shame and crystals you can actually afford. The one who talks about parenting without turning your child into a prop. Depth beats coverage.

Humour has a fingerprint

If you're not funny, don't perform funny. Dry observation isn't the same as jokes. Warmth isn't the same as gags. If you're funny in person and wooden on the page, you're probably editing the joke out because it felt unspiritual. Put one back in. See who laughs. Those are data. Those are your people.

If your humour has an edge, keep the edge and keep the kindness. Cruel isn't a brand. Neither is bland.

Do this

Map the personality that is already in the room

  1. 1Open the personality-map page. Write four headings: humour, pace, topics, edges.
  2. 2Under humour, paste three lines from real messages you have sent friends. Not improved. Real.
  3. 3Under pace, write how you actually move through a day of social media when nobody is watching: lurking, bursts, letters, silence.
  4. 4Under topics, list five things you can talk about with no product in the room. Circle two you have been hiding because they felt off-brand.
  5. 5Under edges, write three things you won't pretend, even if they "convert". Read them out loud. If you wince with relief, you're in the right place.
  6. 6Write one sentence that could only be you. If it could be Maggie, Priya, Jonah, Bee or Elise, throw it back and write again.

This isn't a brand workshop. It's a recovery of stolen property. Your personality was never the company's to standardise.

Someone else already does this

Yes. Good.

If someone else already talks to tired nurses, or sceptical mums, or people who are spiritually curious and allergic to fluff, that means the room exists. You're not trying to be the only person in the room. You're trying to be a specific one.

Cloning me, or cloning that other Moonbeam with the tidy grid, is how you become a quieter copy of someone who's already doing it. The industry taught you that saturation is a threat. Saturation is a clue. People are already hungry for the conversation. They don't need a copy. They need a specific mouth.

Elise gets stuck here. She can write a caption that sounds like six successful women at once, because that was the training: model the upline. Modelling an upline will get you a costume. It won't get you a tribe.

If this is you

Someone else already does this

Name the person. Write what they actually do well — humour, pace, topic, face, whatever it is. Then write what is true of you that isn't true of them. One specific thing. Getting-out-the-door timing. Night shifts. A city. A doubt. A joke they wouldn't tell. Post from that sentence this week, not from their grid. If you can't find a difference, you're still looking at tactics. Look at your Tuesday.

You're allowed to admire me. You're not allowed to outsource your self to me and then wonder why connection feels like wearing a wig. Next lesson we go looking for the people who will recognise the real one.

Do the work

  • Personality map

Authenticity without specifics is just a poster. Map the actual bits of you that will show up online.

  • Costume check

You can't FIND your people while you're wearing a uniform they didn't ask for.
